The Gardeners of the Night
Every November, up to a million palm fruit bats gather in Kasanka National Park – Africa's largest mammal migration. No one knows why they choose this particular location. But one thing is certain: without these flying gardeners, who spread seeds over dozens of kilometres, Africa's forests would become impoverished. With the ICARUS project, the Animal, Nature and Species Conservation Foundation wants to decipher their secret routes – and thus protect them.
